Authentic Signed Stig Inge Bjørneby Photos, Framed & Mounted Displays
Liverpool left-back Stig Inge Bjørnebye played for the club between 1992-2000 after manager Graeme Souness was impressed by his performance with the Norwegian national team and bought him for £600,000.
Bjørnebye made his Liverpool debut in 1992 against Coventry City, but he really started to shine in the 1994-5 season under the management of Roy Evans, where Bjørnebye and Liverpool scooped a 2-1 win against Bolton Wanderers in the 1995 League Cup Final. His performance over the next two seasons saw him included in the PFA Team of the Year, along with Steve McManaman and Mark Wright. In total, he was capped 139 times for Liverpool and scored 2 goals.
Stig Inge Bjørnebye joined Blackburn Rovers in 2000 and helped the club’s promotion to the Premier League within his first year. In the 2002 League Cup Final, the team defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-1, winning Bjørnebye’s final trophy as a league footballer before his retirement in 2003.
Nationally, Stig Inge Bjørnebye played for Norway for eleven years and made 76 appearances, including the 1994 and 1998 FIFA World Cup and the Euro 2000. He managed Norway between 2003-2006, before moving on to manage local Norwegian team, IK Start.
