Formed in 1885, Luton Town currently play in the Championship league (they played in the First Division between 1982-1992) and their home games are played at Kenilworth Road. Achievements throughout the years include reaching the FA Cup Final in 1959 against Nottingham Forest, defeating Arsenal in the 1988 Football League Final and the Football League Trophy win in the 2008-09 season. They are nicknamed ‘The Hatters’.
Paul Walsh was signed by the club in 1982 and scored a hat trick in his second game for Luton Town, a move which saw them win 5-3 against Notts County. His second goal of the game won Goal of the Season. After another hat trick in December 1983 against Stoke City, he earned the title of Young Player of the Year, beating the likes of Ian Rush and John Barnes.
Mick Harford played for Luton Town between 1984-90, managed them between 2008-09 and still serves the club as a recruitment officer to this day. He was part of the Luton side that won the League Cup in 1988 against Arsenal, and scored in the final the year after. He is often voted as the club’s best ever player and scored 57 goals for the club overall, with a total of 139 appearances.
