Legendary three-time Derby winner, the late Walter Swinburn was just 19 years of age when he won the Derby on Shergar in 1981 by a record 10 lengths. He then went on to win the Derby two more times; on Shahrastani (1986) and Lammtarra (1995).

Amongst other great achievements and race triumphs, Walter Swinburn rode All Along to victory in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (1983), and saw All Along win the 1983 Eclipse Award for Horse of the Year. He won the Epsom Oaks (1987), Irish 1000 Guineas (1992) and the July Cup (1981, 1986, 1987). After retiring in 2000, he became a licensed trainer and took over from his father in law, Peter Harris.
