Trevor Eve has been on the acting scene since the seventies, however he is more widely known for his roles in detective drama Shoestring, and police series Waking the Dead.

Shoestring was broadcast on BBC One and spanned for two series between 1979 and 1980. Trevor Eve played the title character, Eddie Shoestring, and the premise was based around a private detective who had his own radio show. In 1979, he also starred in the movie Dracula as Jonathan Harker.

Trevor Eve decided to end his career on Shoestring at the end of the second series, and instead chose to diversify into theatre. Just a year later, he had won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor for his performance as James Leeds in Children of a Lesser God.

He spent the next two decades working in theatre and television dramas, and in 1995 he worked alongside Juliet Stevenson in the BAFTA and Emmy Award winning drama The Politician’s Wife. In September 2000, Trevor Eve joined the cast of Waking the Dead, where he played the lead character Detective Superintendent Peter Boyd for the entirety of the show’s nine season running. The BBC crime drama series was extremely popular and won an International Emmy Award in 2004, and received consistent high viewing figures for each series.
