Tim Allen is an American actor, comedian and author, well known for playing the voice of Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story.
He began his career as a comedian and following a dare he performed in a comedy night and became recognised in local t.v. commercials in Detroit. He moved to Los Angeles and became a performer at the Comedy Store. He became famous as Tim “The Tool-Man” in the American sitcom, ‘Home Improvement’ and later he starred in ‘The Santa Claus’ playing Scott an ordinary man who accidentally causes Santa Claus to fall from his roof on Christmas Eve. When Scott and his son finish St Nick’s deliveries they go to the North Pole where he hears he is to become the new Santa.
In 1995 he became the voice of Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story and Toy Story 2. The name Buzz Lightyear was inspired by the astronaut Buzz Aldrin and the design of the action figure by John Lasseter, being a spaceman was due to the influence of the Apollo astronauts. The role of Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear was reprised in 2014 for the Christmas t.v. special “Toy Story That Time Forgot” and included Tom Hanks as “Woody”.
