Authentic Signed Major Tim Peake Photos, Framed & Mounted Displays
Major Tim Peake is a European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut and a former International Space Station (ISS) crew member. Before his career as an astronaut, he was part of the Royal Army Air Cops, the Royal Green Jackets and a qualified helicopter pilot. Upon leaving the Army in 2009 after 17 years of service, he had racked up over 3000 flying hours.
Tim Peake beat over 9000 potential astronauts for one of six places on the ESA’s training programme (2009), which involved a mission in caves in Sardinia in extreme conditions with complete isolation from the outside world. He was the first ever British ESA astronaut, and the second astronaut to bear a flag of the United Kingdom patch.
Tim Peake is most famous for Expedition 46/47 – he was part of the main crew for the mission to the ISS, and was launched out on 15th December 2015, becoming the first Briton to fly into space without a private contract and the first British ESA astronaut to visit the International Space Station. On New Years’ Day 2016, he broadcasted a New Years message from space. On 15th January 2016, he participated in the first spacewalk outside the ISS by a British astronaut. He became the first man to run a marathon from space; participating in the London Marathon from an ISS treadmill in 2016. His 186-day mission lasted until the 18th June 2016.
In the 2016 Birthday Honours for services to space research and special education, Tim Peake was awarded Companion of the Order of St. Michael and St. George. To date, Tim Peake has written three books about his experiences in space.
