Ron Haslam is also a world speed record holder, after his efforts on the 500 Elf in France in 1986; where he scooped the Flying Kilometre, the Standing Start Mile and Standing Start 10km records. In addition to this, he has raced in many Endurance events and came second in the 1979 Suzuka 8 Hours race in Japan. He has raced for Honda, Suzuki, Cagiva and Norton, the latter of which he was racing with in 1991 when he finished second in the British Superbike Championship.
