Michelle Fairley is best known for playing Catelyn Stark, the Lady of Winterfell ,in Game of Thrones from 2011-2013, replacing Jennifer Ehle who previously played the character. Her performance garnered critical acclaim and many fans were disappointed when the character was written out after the third series. Her death at the Red Wedding is remembered as one of the show’s most shocking moments to date. Her time with the cast of Game of Thrones saw her win the Clarence Derwent Award for Best Supporting Female (2019).

Prior to Game of Thrones, Michelle Fairley had appeared in many popular films and television shows, and in 2010 she appeared as Hermione’s mother, Mrs Granger, in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part One, where she made a brief but memorable appearance when Hermione cast a False Memory Charm over her parents. She has also appeared in Midsomer Murders (2010), Silent Witness (2011) and Fortitude (2017) amongst other notable performances.

In 2013 she joined the cast of Suits as Ava Hessington, who was one of the main focuses of season three as her character was bring charged with bribery and murder. She appeared in the season for eight episodes overall, before moving on to star in hit drama 24 as Margot Al-Harazi. In 2020 she received the Northern Irish Royal Television Award for Outstanding Contribution.
