Jodie Whittaker is an English actress mainly known for her role in Broadchurch, where she played the Beth, the mother of Broadchurch first victim, Danny, her son.  She appeared in all three series, playing the role at first of the grieving mother, then as her marriage breaks down, her daughter still lives with her but in the third series she has a new purpose in life at a local crisis centre. In 2017, the BBC announced that she would become the thirteenth and first female incarnation of The Doctor in the British TV series Doctor Who.  She assumed the role from Peter Capaldi in the Christmas special and will appear in her first full series as the Doctor in the eleventh series in late 2018.
