Jim Broadbent is an English actor who has appeared both on stage and in television.  He won an Academy award for Best Supporting Actor for Iris and the BAFTA Award for Moulin Rouge.  He won the British Academy Television Award for Best Actor and the Golden Globe Award for his portrayal of the penal reformer Lord Longford in Channel 4 drama, Longford. He was cast as Professor Horace Slughorn in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince as well as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.  He also played Sam Longson, the chairman of Derby County Football club and also appeared with Michael Sheen in The Damned United about football manager, Brian Clough.  He played Dennis Thatcher opposite Meryl Streep as the former Prime Minister, The Iron Lady. He has been cast in the seventh season of Game of Thrones and is also due to play in BBC Two programme, King Lear.
