The television series was immensely popular, attracting 10.39 million viewers and making a celebrity out of Jane McDonald – her self-titled album went platinum in the same year.

Since then she has released a multitude of albums, including Inspiration (2000), which reached number 6 in the album charts, and Jane (2008) which reached number 7.

She has presented BAFTA award winning Cruising with Jane McDonald since 2017, a show where she embarks on luxury mega-cruises around the world to explore the cruising life, and she released an album with the same name in June 2018, which reached number 6 in the album charts. The show has seen Jane McDonald visit many dream destinations such as the Bahamas, Miami, the Mediterranean and Australia / New Zealand.
