Hugh Fraser is an English actor, born in London and brought up in the Midlands.

He first became famous for his role in Edward & Mrs Simpson, playing Antony Eden and is almost always cast in the role of upper class aristocratic gentlemen. He has regularly appeared in television series such as ITV’s Sharpe, the historical war drama and in Dr Who, also appearing in the BBC thriller Edge of Darkness.

Hugh is best known for his role as Captain Hastings, the companion and best friend of the Belgian detective, Poirot played by David Suchet. Captain Hastings is a former Army Officer from World War 1; he is brave and courageous and is used by Poirot for catching and subduing criminals, whilst being no detective himself. The clearly enjoy each other’s company. Hugh also narrates Poirot audio books.
