Guy Siner is most well known for his role as Lieutenant Hubert Gruber in BBC’s ‘Allo ‘Allo from 1982-1992. The sitcom was centred around the life of a French café owner during the German occupation of France in the Second World War, and the show became extremely popular – it is dubbed as one of the best comedies the BBC has ever produced. For four consecutive years (1986-1989) ‘Allo ‘Allo received BAFTA nominations for Best Comedy. ‘Allo ‘Allo produced many memorable catchphrases such as ‘You Stupid Woman’ and ‘Listen very carefully; I shall say this only once’.

Guy Siner’s character, a German officer who had been reassigned, was known for his crush on the main character, René, and for art forgery. The character appeared in 85 episodes of the show. He also returned as Lieutenant Gruber for a one-off special, ‘The Return of ‘Allo ‘Allo’ in 2007.

In addition to Allo Allo, Guy Siner has made an appearance in an episode of Doctor Who ‘Genesis of the Daleks’, he played Stuart Reed in the first season of Star Trek: Enterprise, and he played a small role as the Harbormaster in the hit film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.
