Ex Special Forces soldier Ant Middleton turned his hand to television in 2015 as the chief instructor in Channel 4’s SAS: Who Dares Wins. The show, which sees ordinary contestants take on harsh environments around the world, in a brutal training course similar to Special Air Force selection, made Ant Middleton a celebrity and since then he has many successful TV appearances. SAS: Who Dares Wins has run for four years consecutively from 2015-2019 and is still going strong. In April 2019, there was a one-off celebrity special of the show, featuring top athletes such as England rugby player Ben Foden and Olympic gold champion Victoria Pendleton.

Ant Middleton and Channel 4 have since worked on similar TV reality shows with an adventure theme such as 2017’s Mutiny; a show which saw him captaining a team of men who navigated over 4000 miles of sea in nothing but a wooden boat. Escape, in the same year, saw Ant Middleton and a group of qualified engineers have to engineer their way out of environments such as jungles, glaciers and deserts, using materials sourced at crash sites.

In 2018, Channel 4 filmed Ant Middleton’s attempt to tackle Mount Everest for the first time in the documentary Extreme Everest with Ant Middleton, where he was caught up in extreme weather conditions and had both his mental and physical strength tested to the limit.

Off the back of his success, Ant Middleton has written and published two books about his experiences, and his second, titled The Fear Bubble (2019) was number one on the Sunday Times Bestseller List.
