Katie Melua is a British singer, songwriter and musician.  She was born in Georgia, Eurasia but moved in 1992 to Northern Ireland when she was 8 years and then moved to London in 1999.  She made her musical debut in 2003 and in 2006 she became the best-selling female artist in the UK and Europe’s highest selling female artist.  Her first album, released in 2003, ‘Call off the Search’, became top of the UK album charts selling 1.8 million copies in the first five months of release.  Her second album, ‘Piece by Piece’, released in 2005 and has gone platinum four times.  She released her third album in 2007 and according to the Sunday Times Rich List in 2008 she had an 18 million pound fortune making her the 7th richest British musician under thirty.
