The legendary Liverpool striker, Ian St. John, was brought to the club by Bill Shankly, who described his arrival at the club as ‘the turning point’ for Liverpool, who were in the Second Division when Ian St. John joined the squad. His ten year span with Liverpool went down in history and he achieved great things with the club, most notably, the 1965 FA Cup Final win against Leeds United, where Ian St. John scored a diving header past Gary Sprake in extra time, and secured Liverpool’s first FA Cup win in history.

Amongst other distinguished honours, Ian St. John and Liverpool played a vital role in winning the League Championship in 1963-64, beating rivals Manchester United and Everton. They went on to win the League again in 1965-66. In his time at Anfield, he made 426 appearances, and scored 118 times. He was capped by Scotland 21 times and in 2008 was inducted into the Scottish Hall of Fame.
