The legendary former Welsh scrum half, Gareth Edwards, has been described by the BBC as ‘arguably the greatest player ever to don a Welsh jersey’. His try for the Barbarians against the All Blacks in 1973 has gone down in history as ‘the greatest try ever’.

At the age of 18, Gareth Edwards’ career with the Welsh Rugby Union began, and by 19 he had scored his first international cap for Wales. He went on to win 53 caps for Wales (including 13 as captain) and he was famous for never having an injury and winning all his caps in succession. He also played for the British and Irish Lions, including the 1971 Lions team which was the only such team to win a series in New Zealand, and Cardiff.
