David Hay is a Celtic legend as both a player and a manager, He joined the Celtic squad in 1966 and stayed with them throughout one of their most prominent eras. He was part of the reserve team that were nicknamed ‘The Quality Street Gang’, but his success with the team saw him joining the main squad by 1968, going onto win honours for Chelsea and scoring 12 goals in total.

He was quickly capped for Scotland, and was named in the squad for the 1974 FIFA World Cup in West Germany, where Scotland became one of the 16 teams to make it past the group stages. Following this, he was transferred to Chelsea for a fee of £225,000, where he stayed for six years (1974-1980). 

His management career began with Motherwell in 1981, and he let them into promotion to the Scottish Premier Division. In 1983, he returned to his beloved Celtic, succeeding BillyMcNeill. He led the team to victory with the win of the Scottish Cup in 1985. His victory continued after a 5-0 win against St. Mirren at Love Street saw Celtic win the Premier Division in 1986. In 1994, he became chief scout for Celtic, identifying players such as Paulo di Canio and Jorge Cadete.
