Authentic Signed Danny Murphy Photos, Framed & Mounted Displays
Retired Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy was a legend of his time. He joined Liverpool in 1997 and in the 2000-01 season he scored an impressive tally for a midfielder; 10 goals in 47 matches. Danny Murphy and Liverpool went down in history in the same season, winning the treble (UEFA Cup, FA Cup and League Cup) and scoring in the finals of both the FA Cup and the UEFA Cup. He was voted the club’s best player by Liverpool fans in the season of 2002-03, and is known for his uncanny habit of scoring the deciding goal in 1-0 wins against rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford in three consecutive seasons (2000-2004). In December 2000, Dany Murphy’s free-kick secured Manchester United’s first defeat at home for two years and Liverpool’s first away win over United for ten years. Danny Murphy also scored all of his eight penalties in his time at Liverpool.
Danny Murphy made his England debut in 2001 against Sweden, and scored in a 4-0 victory against Paraguay in April 2002. He was lined up to play for England in the 2002 World Cup, but had to withdraw due to injury. In total, he made nine appearances for England. (201 words)
