Christopher Timothy is mainly known for his role as James Herriot in All Creatures Great and Small, a television series based on the life on a vet set in the Yorkshire Dales.  He played the part from 1978 to 1990, also reading James Herriot’s works for release on CD. 

 He has since played various parts in television series including Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em, Casualty and in 2000 he played the part of Brendan Mac McGuire in the TV series Doctors, staying with the show for six years. 

 In April 2017 he joined the BBC soap opera EastEnders as a regular character Ted Murray, with Maggie Steed playing his wife Joyce Murray.  This was 11 years to the day after his last episode of Doctors.
