Amanda Seyfried is an American actress and singer-songwriter. She started her career as a model and appeared in ads for clothing companies. She stopped this and worked as a waitress and took voice lessons, studied opera and trained with a Broadway coach. She auditioned for a role in “Mean Girls” and earned her an MTV movie award.

Her breakthrough came due to her part in the American television drama series “Big Love” in which she plays the daughter of a fictional Morman family who have a polygamous faith.

She then went on to star along with Meryl Streep in “Mamma Mia” a romantic comedy film of the musical and based on the songs of Abba. She plays Sophie, a bride-to -be and the daughter of single mother Donna, who owns a villa on a Greek island. Sophie discovers from her mother’s diary that she has three possible fathers and sends three wedding invitations, without telling her mother, as she would like her father to give her away. Amanda recorded five songs on the films soundtrack and the film was the fifth highest grossing film of 2008.

Amanda has since starred in the film “Gone” and in 2012 she played Cosette in the film adaptation of Les Miserables. She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture and received acclaim from critics for her performance.
