Robert Englund

Robert Englund is an American film and stage actor, best known for his role as the infamous serial killer Freddy Krueger, the psychotic burn victim and child murderer in Nightmare on Elm Street film series.

Robert began studying acting when he was 12 and attended Cranbrook Theatre School; he then attended UCLA for three years before transferring to Michigan’s Oakland University, training at the Meadow Brook Theatre, a branch of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. He had five successful years performing in plays including Shakespeare and George Bernard Shaw and is a classically trained actor.

He is only one of two actors to portray a horror character eight consecutive times. Robert said he enjoys the role of Freddy as it gives him a break from always acting out the nice guy. Make-up artists responsible for the Freddy Krueger make-up have said that he is so friendly and talkative that it makes the lengthy make-up application more challenging.
