Airplane pilot Mike Bannister was the well-known Chief Pilot of British Airways' fleet of Concorde jets. Joining British Airways in 1977 as their youngest pilot, he flew a cumulative 9,600 flight hours of Concorde flights, 7,000 of which were at supersonic speed.

Mike Bannister held the post of Chief Pilot for the Concorde fleet from 1995 until 2003 when he captained the Concorde’s final flight from New York to London in 2003, successfully retiring the Concorde from flight service.
