Karen began her acting career making guest appearances in drama series like Rebus.  Then she became a member of the cast of a comedy series The Kevin Bishop Show and also took the leading role in a horror project, The Well, which was broadcast on BBC 2.  She was then cast in the role of Amy Pond, the Eleventh Doctor’s first companion in the Doctor Who series.  She made her first on screen appearance with her cousin playing a young Amy. In 2010 she won in the entertainment category at Young Scots Awards.  She appeared in the following sixth series of Doctor Who and the first five episodes of the seventh series. She made a cameo appearance in the Christmas Special, The Time of the Doctor.
