Julian Clary is a real-all rounder. He has turned his hand to everything; from stand-up comedy to television to writing and theatre. He entered the comedy scene in 1980, wearing heavy drag make-up and using aliases, one of which was ‘The Joan Collins Fan Club’. His stand-up tours alongside his pet whippet ‘Fanny the Wonder Dog’, were extremely successful, and saw him break Australia and New Zealand.

Since the 1980s, he has been a regular feature of prime-time television, and has appeared on many shows such as Sticky Moments with Julian Clary (1989) and All Rise for Julian Clary (1996) as well as the popular Christmas ITV Pantos.  He has worked with stars such as Davina McCall, Denise Van Outen and Jonathan Ross, and was the face of the Daz campaign between 1999-2002. In 2004, he partnered Erin Boag in the BBC Saturday night series Strictly Come Dancing. He was a contestant in Celebrity Big Brother 10 in 2012 and went on to win the series.

Julian Clary has also appeared in West End performances such as Taboo (2002) and Cabaret (2007-08) and has consistently starred in pantomimes between 1998-present. He has written and released ten books in total, the most recent of which was published in 2019; ‘The Bolds Go Wild’. He has hosted radio shows on BBC Radio 1 and Radio 4, and is often a guest on ‘Just a Minute’, the BBC Radio 4 comedy show.
