Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford signed for the club for a fee of £25million plus add on fees, in June 2017, after a six-year stint at Sunderland between 2011-2017. He was clearly sought after as he became the most expensive British goalkeeper of all time, the second most expensive Everton signing and the third most expensive goalkeeper in history. He made his league debut with Everton on 12th August 2017 with a home win against Stoke City. To date, he has made 76 appearances in total with the club.

Jordan Pickford represented the youth England national time since he was in the U-16 league, and he received his first call up by Gareth Southgate for the full England first team for the World Cup 2018 qualifier against Slovenia in October 2016. However, he had to bow out due to injury and he made his official England debut in a friendly against Germany in November 2017. In the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, Jordan Pickford started the opening match against Tunisia, which England won 2-1. He helped England secure their first ever World Cup penalty shoot out victory against Colombia (4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw), saving the deciding goal from Carlos Bacca and securing a place in the quarter final. Jordan Pickford was named Man of the Match on 7th July 2018 in the quarter-finals, after his first clean sheet of the World Cup saw England knock out Sweden and gain a place in the semi-finals for the first time since 1990.

In June 2019, Jordan Pickford broke records and became the first goalkeeper to take and score a penalty in a competitive shootout for England against Switzerland at the inaugural UEFA Nations League Finals. England beat Switzerland and came third in the competition in total.
