Sheridan Smith is an English actress, singer and dancer. She never trained at Drama School but was a member of the National Youth Music Theatre and performing in a number of lead roles.
From 1999 Sheridan has played many parts in television series including The Royle Family, Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, later performing a Comic Relief Special.
Sheridan won the 2013 Bafta Television Award for Best Actress for her part in the title role of Mrs Biggs, the true story of the wife of the Great Train Robber, Ronnie Biggs.
In 2014 Sheridan starred in the miniseries on ITV Cilla, about the early career of Cilla Black, she learned the two singing voices Cilla used, one heard in the noisy Cavern Club and one for the recording studio. The series was repeated following the death of Cilla Black.
Recently, Sheridan has starred in the BBC drama, the Moorside, based on the kidnapping of Shannon Matthews and telling the story of the women who campaigned to find her. Sheridan remains friends with Julie Bushby after spending a lot of time with her whilst researching this role.
Sheridan is currently touring the UK with the West End Musical Funny Girl.
