John Carpenter is an American film director, screenwriter, producer, musician, editor and composer but mainly known for his association with horror and science fiction films.

He is most recognised as the director of Halloween which has become one of the most profitable independent films and the first in a long line of horror films inspired by Hitchcock’s “Psycho”.  It is one of the first horror films where the killer dies and comes back to life again within the same film.

His films, “Assault on Precinct 13”, “The Thing”, “Prince of Darkness” have become cult classics and John has been acknowledged as an influential filmmaker.

John Carpenter also composes most of the music for his films which are also considered cult, the theme from “Halloween” is a part of popular culture.
